Vanessa´s appearance:
Episode One:
She has 5 to 6 scenes in her first episode, each only about 2 or
3 minutes long. It is the style of the show--going in and out of
scenes quickly. She wears suits and her hair pulled back in
a tight bun for all but one scene. In the last scene, her
hair is down and she smiles some and then the show goes
off. You get to see her crying in one scene. She is
only in about 1/3 of the show--but the whole episode is worth
watching.
What´s special about this one:
Vanessa finished work on L.A. Doctors on April 8th and watched a
Lakers game on the next day.

Story:
Episode 1
O Captain, My Captain
Leanne Barrows (Vanessa Williams) is a patient's rights advocate. Barrows is contacted by Edgar Bales, a patient of Evan's who wants to donate a kidney to his ailing son. Evan (Rick Roberts) won't agree to the transplant on the grounds that Edgar's just recently undergone heart surgery. But Edgar issues his doctor a warning: either work with Leanne to get the transplant approved by the hospital, or get off the case. Meanwhile, a comatose patient is found to be in possession of Tim's (Matt Craven) phone number.
Episode 2
Qué Será, Sarah
Tim is infuriated when Dr. Leanne Barrows (Vanessa Willliams) intervenes, without his consent, on behalf of the mentally retarded patient who becomes pregnant against her family's wishes. Meanwhile, Dr. Roger Cattan (Ken Olin) almost gets himself and Eleanor Riggs killed when he incites road rage in a steroid-using bodybuilder, but, in a strange twist of fate, soon finds his would-be assailant in his medical care and must convince the young man to give up steroids before they prove fatal. Also, Evan finally makes a romantic overture to Sarah (Sheryl Lee), but only after receiving the sagacious romantic advice of Dennis Rodman. Guest Starring: L.A. Lakers basketball star Dennis Rodman, making a cameo appearance playing himself, gives Dr. Evan Newman advice on how to win Dr. Sarah Church's heart. Patricia Wettig appears in her ongoing role as Roger's wife, Eleanor Riggs.
